The scene had been cleared so Calleigh started to collect the evidence. She could sense Horatio standing close by, watching her but she didn't look back at him she just did her job. After a few minutes he walked away and Calleigh let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. She heard a gun shot and then someone fell to the ground. She spun around and saw Horatio on the ground bleeding. She ran over to him and tore her jacket off pushing it against his right shoulder. She tore his shirt off and kept applying pressure to the wound, trying to make it stop bleeding. His eyes were half opened and his breathing was heavy.
"We need a medic!" she shouted to the crowd that was beginning to form.
She looked in his eyes and saw that they were filled with fear. It was all wrong. He was supposed to be the strong one. He was supposed to be the one that calmed her down and chased away all of her fear, not the other way around. She held his left hand tight in her hers and looked at him tears forming in her eyes, but she didn't let them fall. She had to be strong for Horatio.
"Calleigh, if...I don't...make it..." he gasped looking her straight in the eye.
She reached up and rubbed his check. Forcing that thought out of her mind.
"I want...you to know...that," he continued wincing from the pain in his shoulder.
"I love you...I always have...and I always will," he finished closing his eyes in exhaustion.
The tears she had been fighting to hold in all came pouring out. It was too much for her. He loved her and she was so close to losing him.
"I love you too," she told him in a whisper. He opened his eyes and looked up at her a weak smile on his face. She bent her head down and kissed him.
The paramedics arrived shortly there after. They put him in an ambulance and Calleigh went with him never letting go of his hand.
As she sat in the waiting room she couldn't stop smiling. Horatio loved her, and she loved him. Maybe she would find the right man after all.
Summary: She looked in his eyes and saw that they were filled with fear.
