The humid Miami sun was setting down along the beach as she walked slowly down the grassy hill. A short, red headed woman closed her eyes as the breeze caressed her face.
She knew this area very well. She had been here numerous times paying her respects without anyone knowing what she was up to. Closing her eyes a memory from long ago came into mind.
She watched in the background next to her husband as they lowered the casket into the ground. Scanning the area for her angel, he was the one that had saved her many years ago in New York. She smiled lightly as she spotted his fire red hair looking down at the ground. She noticed the way he stood. She knew he would hide his emotions well but she knew better. Her angel couldn't hide from her. Walking towards the casket, he laid a single red rose on top, kissing the lid. As the clouds burst, the rain poured down as the casket was lowered into the ground and the first sign of the dirt was put on top of it.
Wiping the tears from her eyes, she continued on her way. She smiled when she found her destination. Kneeling down gingerly, she wiped at the headstone: Marisol Delko Caine. Smiling, she noticed the red rose in the vase and placed her purple one there next to it. She sat down on the ground making sure she was comfortable for the baby.
Sniffing the red rose, she inhaled the beautiful scent. "Hey, Marisol, looks like our angel was here,k wasn't he?."
She sniffed the red rose again and continued, "Yep, looks like he's been here. I wish we could've met, Marisol. It was finally nice to see him open up and show a softer side of himself. You brought out the best of him even though it was only for a short time."
She looked up towards the darkening sky. "I know you're watching over him and keeping him safe, but there is something I have to tell you."
Taking a deep breath, she continued, "He's dead Marisol. He was working a huge case with some extreme arms dealers, putting Julia and his son Kyle in danger. They killed him, but in my heart I know he's alive. Our angel is alive, he can't die," she paused rubbing her belly as the baby kicked her. "There is so much I want to tell him, but the chance of that is gone. My son won't get the chance to meet him."
She stood up slowly and ran a hand on the smooth surface. "I hope you're happy Marisol and that our angel is with you."
She turned and walked away unaware of a shadow in the distance watching her leave.
